Neuroimaging of a brain

Exploring Behavioral Genomics and Neurobiology

How does gene expression shape complex behavior?

About me

I’m Landon, a biologist interested in the molecular mechanisms underlying animal behavior. I’m currently a PhD student in the Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior program at the University of Texas at Austin, where I work in the Hofmann Lab. My research uses CRISPR to investigate the genetic basis of social behavior in Astatotilapia burtoni, a highly social species of cichlid fish.

I developed an interest in neuroscience and animal behavior while studying biology at Case Western Reserve University. After graduating, I joined the Dickman Lab at the University of Southern California, where I worked on understanding the homeostatic processes that regulate synaptic function in Drosophila.

Outside of the lab, I enjoy hiking and spending time in nature.
